For the length of this full time programme you must live in the Highland Council geographical area as the programme structure means you will have significant time based in your placement schools, enabling you to participate more widely in the school community alongside your time undertaking academic study.
You must have:
- A minimum of a 2.1 Honours Degree in Science (chemistry or physics), maths, computing or home economics (however, applicants with a 2.2 Honours Degree and recent and relevant work experience may also be considered)
- The interpersonal skills, qualities and attributes to motivate and bring learning alive for young people
Enthusiasm to study and gain your full registration as a teacher while staying in the Highlands and be given financial support to help you while studying and undertaking school placements.
Before applying to the Programme we would recommend that you gain greater appreciation of and insight into the role, responsibilities, rewards and challenges of being a secondary teacher. We would therefore encourage you to make links with a local secondary school and try to arrange to spend some time there.
