Why we are supporting this programme

  • We want to secure motivated and enthusiastic new teachers for our young people in the STEM subjects who can bring recent work place based experience and subject expertise to support their teaching role and engage the young people in learning
  • The structure allows people to learn in their locality while receiving financial support which can make such a career move financially more manageable during the transition
  • Working alongside motivated colleagues in schools on a weekly basis for most of the programme in parallel with academic learning (mainly delivered online) supported by high quality university staff can more naturally integrate theory and practice in a more sustained and meaningful way

We wish to recruit more teachers of STEM subjects to our very diverse rural catchment area who have relevant and current high quality expertise in these subject areas and a genuine long term commitment to a teaching role
